Whenever I do an ftp as a normal user for a file of size 2.4GB from a HPUX workstation automatically reboots?
Is there some kernel parameters associated with the above problem?
The Configuration of the HP UX workstation is as below.
Single processor.
Memory 4GB
Hard disk size 36GB
HPUX 11.0 OS.
Kindly provide a solution for the same.
Thanks.

Re: ftp reboots the server
Hi,
Is there a crash dump during the reboot? If there is, You can use the q4 analysis tool to check what is the state of the system before the crash.
In addition, have you checked your logs before the automatic reboot such as /var/adm/syslog/OLDsyslog.log for syslog messages before the automatic reboot if any.
Hope this helps. Regards.

Re: ftp reboots the server
the problem still persits and when checked in the shutdownlog and syslog and in the INDEX file it has the following message.
panic usb: no room in virtual<->physical lookup table for HC instance 0.
could there be any problem with regards to virtual memory.

Solution
The failure you are describing is a panic in the USB driver on your system.
Please obtain and instal PHKL_20478 which has this failure symptom documented in it's tecxt file.
