Re: graphic card driver for EVO n1020v

There are no drivers for many notebook computers and Linux. Your best hope is to go to the manufacturer's site and find a driver. If there is not one posted, perhaps contact them by email.

If that doesn't work, you have two choices, a different Linux distribution(notebook support is improving especially red hat), or writing a driver yourself.

You can try the frame buffer vesa driver, but you will not be using much of your video cards potential, ie. no 3d and most likely a crappy assortment of resolutions.

Re: graphic card driver for EVO n1020v

The Compaq EVO 1020v is substantially similar to members of the HP ze4100 series. All use Radeon IGP graphics, which is poorly autodetected by most existing Linux distributions. You can get your graphics up and running by choosing Generic Laptop Display 1024x768 and Generic (VESA) driver. To actually use the radeon capabilities of your system, you will have to do some manual configuration of XFree86 and possibly patch XFree86 and build a new kernel. You can find more details about the various graphics setup options on my linux-ze4100 web page:
