grep tool

Hi,
I configured grep in hp-ux without error.
While giving make cmd i got error as shown....
(error is in at last). Plz tell me How can i solve this ?

First of all, you may have to install gmake to build packages. But you would have lots of other errors.
What does "whence -v make" show?

I assume this isn't important, there is nothing to build here?

hardware architecture? Which compiler? How?

What's in the "make" file?

GNU "make" does seem to emit fewer "No suffix
list" complaints than HP's "make", but that
may not matter much.

On my system, using only HP's "make" and the
bundled C compiler, GNU grep 2.5.1 could be
built (with plenty of warnings):

dyi # uname -a
HP-UX dyi B.11.31 U ia64 4235313755 unlimited-user license

dyi # ./src/grep --version
grep (GNU grep) 2.5.1
[...]

Version 2.5.3 had some actual compile errors
in src/search.c. "gcc (GCC) 4.2.2" liked it
better:

dyi # src/grep --version
GNU grep 2.5.3
[...]

2.5.3 also seemed to insist on having
"makeinfo", although it shouldn't:

ftp://mirrors.usc.edu/pub/gnu/makeinfo.README

As GNU programs go, this one did not seem to
be very portable (to a casual observer).
