Re: how to make sendmail to do "save and forward"?

The short answer is no. However, the file /etc/mail/aliases can be used to create or modify an address in the local computer that pipes the mail message tp a script which in turn can deliver the mail (see rmail) as well as pipe the contents into mailx to send the message to another address(es).

As far as I know, sendmail does not have this facility as it runs as a mail transfer agent (MTA). If you want to keep messages and forward them suggest you look into using a MUA (mail user agent) like 'mailx' 'elm'.

Mails can be forwarded bu creating a .forward file in the home directory.

You can Maintain copies of the forwarded mail like

in your .forward file

stanley@bbb, \stanley

which will forward mails to stanley at host bbb and also to stanley on the local host.
