do you know how i could find the year fabrication of an HPUX server ?
maybe it's encrypted in the serial number ?

There is a stamp on the actual system that says when it was fabricated(built).
You should use the eyeball version 1.0 method of obtaining this information.

You can get a date stamp if you go into STM, highlight system, tab to tools, select info, select run.

Hi Cedric,
There is no "hard documentation" for this fact, it came to me from an HP engineer. You used to be able to get the information from the serial number, but when the serial numbers changed format in the late ninties, that useful tip disappeared.
Just for the record, that Engineering Date Code doesn't appear on Integrity servers as I have just checked on our rx2620.
I will see if they is some documentatary evidence for you if you are interested, though that may not be easily forthcoming.
