Can someone give me the quick lowdown on
iPlanet. Such as:
How long does it take to configure roughly?
Why use iPlanet over just using LDAP?

Solution
How long it takes to configure depends on such factors as machine speed and how fast one reads and comprehends.
I played with it and then dropped it due to time issues. I've gotten reports that it can be done in a day if all other infrastructure requierments are done in advance.
But seriously, when does that ever happen.
As far as your second qeustion, unless iplanet provides you something you need, I see no reason to use it over just plain old LDAP. A lot of organizations use LDAP client for HP-UX and Microsoft Active Directory as the main LDAP Server.
As much as I despise Microsoft products, that seems to be what we're gonig to do here.

Re: iPlanet info
AAAHHH! Microsoft! I was hoping to at least
install LDAP on UNIX.
We just need to be able to add info like:
User name.
Phone.
Email.
Dept.
.
.
Seems like iPlanet may be overkill.
Also, according to HP, iPlanet is now Sun Server One.
