implementing NIS on clustered machines help

I've 2 machines.
On machine A I've installed a NIS Master server
and on machine B a NIS Slave server.

If I stop NIS Master server on A, the B machine continues to works fine?

I've yet tried but if machine A doesn't work machine B doesn't allow to reach login screen!

I must set also nssswitch config files?
Thank You
Ubi maior, minor cessat!

Re: implementing NIS on clustered machines help

Use 'ypwhich' on B to check to which NIS-Master the NIS-Client on B is bound to.

On HPUX10.x you have to add
+::-2:60001:::
to /etc/passwd
and
+:*:*
to /etc/group
on all NIS-Clients to allow login for Users in the NIS-Map.

On HPUX11.x you can edit
/etc/nsswitch.conf
