info on Oracle 10g streams

We will be incorporating:
replication between two databases.
Both will be masters.

We will be putting this on Oracle 10g.
What I am looking for is some how to, or decent docs regarding this.
The two databases should be identical, in diff. cities.

Re: info on Oracle 10g streams

My first thought would be to look at the documentation on oracle's website. But this seems promising:

http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/9i/Streams9i.php
"The difference between me and you? I will read the man page." and "Respect the hat." and "You could just do a search on ITRC, you don't need to start a thread on a topic that's been answered 100 times already." Oh, and "What. no points???"

Re: info on Oracle 10g streams

Shalom,

This decision is generally made based on bandwidth considerations. That and licensing costs.

Oracle dataguard can handle copying the data from one site to another.

Its also possible to simply copy the archive logs and apply them to the secondary database.

However, you use the term both systems are masters. That implies they will both be hot and running. That means Oracle RAC is your product of choice and that requires common shared storage.

Re: info on Oracle 10g streams

hi,

Indeed, it is recommended going forward that Streams be used to do replication.

For documentations, see:
