install linux on external disk

I have an HP Omnibook XE3 with an Phoenix BIOS, with W98.
I have too an external hard disk connected with USB to my notebook.
I want to install RedHat 7.2 on my external disk. But RedHat installation program seems not detect the external hard disk.

I want not "touch" my actual installation on my hard disk C:.

How can I do that?
Thanks!
