installing 9i , what do I set my JDK_HOME to ?

Collegues

I am installing 9.2.07 on a node with hpux11.00
that already has an installation of 9.2.07,
but on a different filesystem.

During the installation it asked me for the location of JDK_HOME.

I can't remmember what I answered the first time, and I do not want to mix the two installation.

Should I specify a new location,
where JDK is not yet installed,
and if yes what path do you normally use.

or should I since it is on the same node
as the other 9.2.07 , point to the directory /opt/java1.3/jre ?

(And I am not sure jre is the same as JDK)

Thanks for straighten me out here.

Re: installing 9i , what do I set my JDK_HOME to ?

Hi Frank,

I think you can use the same java (/opt/java1.3/jre) but what is the point in installing twice the same Oracle binaries?

Re: installing 9i , what do I set my JDK_HOME to ?

Hi Eric

Thanks for your reply,
I had in the meantime continued
with the installation and indeed
as you confirm the installation accepted
/opt/java1.3

I personally can think of many reasons
as to why to install the same binaries twice.
But not in the same path naturally, because
that would be pointless as you pointed out :)

Hi Frank,

My question was indeed stupid (too much work lately).
