kcusage - volume groups
I get: vgdisplay: Volume group cannot be activated... volume group cannot be displayed.
This normal for kcusage? Why would it need to look at the VGs for kcusage?

Re: kcusage - volume groups
In a cluster on the passive node, shared volume groups can not be active, because they are activated on the active node.

Re: kcusage - volume groups
But why would kcusage need to activate them?

Re: kcusage - volume groups
I wonder if it uses it when checking the current usage of the maxvgs kernel parm
Try
kcusage maxvgs
and then another on something thats nothing to do with volume groups like:
kcusage shmseg
Do you get the "vgdisplay" message for both attempts?

The fix seesm to be to install the latest version of KernelConfig product (B.11.23.24) Unfortunately the link takes you only to the version for 11iv3, so youy may need to hunt this product down on an up-to-date core OS DVD

Re: kcusage - volume groups
Looks like the mystery is solved.
Some older version of kcusage had this "bug"

A way of saying "thanks" for the efforts of the folks that responded is to assign points. These act as bread crumbs for future strollers to find solutions to their problems:
