lanadmin -x produces coredump

Hi

We currently have an overrunning backup, and I have been asked to check the settings on the GigE card.

Using lanadmin shows no inbound/outbound errors, but when using
lanadmin -x I get:

Speed = 1000 Full-Duplex.
Autonegotiation = On.
Memory fault(coredump)

When I run a what core I get:

core:

$ PATCH_11.11/PHCO_29495 Sep 15 2003 04:29:46 $
SMART_BIND
92453-07 dld dld dld.sl B.11.37 030909

Can you help?

Thanks

Tariq

Re: lanadmin -x produces coredump

Suggestion.

Go back to the patch database, look for lanadmin patches. then get network and gigabit patches.

Build a patch bundle and install it.

That patch may be superseded.

This lanadmin core dump is almost always fixed with patching. I've had it on a number of systems that I've worked on.

Re: lanadmin -x produces coredump

First, there is a newer patch: PHCO_31903:

http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/patchDetail.do?BC=patch.breadcrumb.main|patch.breadcrumb.search|&patchid=PHCO_31903&context=hpux:800:11:11

There are also several patches pulled up by searching on "lanadmin core":

PHNE_28799
PHNE_28923
PHNE_29887
PHNE_31153
PHNE_28883
PHNE_29945

I would look into those.

PHNE_28923 lists this in it's defect list:

18. ( SR:8606294894 CR:JAGae58591 )
Possible core dump by lanadmin(1M) command due to buffer overflow.

Re: lanadmin -x produces coredump

Does the fact that lanadmin -x 'PPA' coredumps explain the slow throughput?

Re: lanadmin -x produces coredump

Does the fact that you don't bother to assign points explain the lack of response?
