laptop for redhat- transfer of files between ntfs & extfs

Hello

I'm moving away with winxp...

Is it ok to use any sort of branded laptop for redhat, or do I need to follow a laptop guideline?

with my winxp files, can I transfer these to redhat without problems, given that winxp uses ntfs and rehat extfs?

thanks in advance

You can do it, but it takes a little doing. Here's a link to the documentation.

You shouldn't assume that all the hardware in some arbitrary laptop will work with linux. There is often a lag between the release of the newest models and the update of linux distributions to support them.

You can find certified combinations of linux and HP notebooks at http://linux.hp.com. Follow the link on the left to "Support matrices" and then the link near the bottom to "Desktops/notebooks/thin clients".

There is also informal reporting of what people have tried and found to work (or not work) at
