large delay after entering username

Re: large delay after entering username

Shalom,

First, I would in your case state what kind of a login this is. CDE, telnet, ssh.

Common problem in this area is no /etc/hosts entry for self name resolution.

If the server ip address is 192.168.0.10, an entry in /etc/hosts like this:

192.168.0.10 server.yourdomain.com server

will more often than not speed this login process up.

Re: large delay after entering username

Hi,

please post output of a connection by ssh from another HP-UX system. Try it with debug:

ssh -vvv

Re: large delay after entering username

What output do you get if you add option "-vv" to your ssh command ?

ssh -vv server

Have you looked in the system log file(s) on
the HP-UX system?

Re: large delay after entering username

In an attempt to gather more information, you could stop your current sshd (/Sbin/init.d/secsh stop) and then start it manually with verbose on (/usr/sbin/sshd -vv). This sshd will not run as a daemon and show all verbose output on the screen. Kill it by entering Ctrl-C.

Now try to make a new connection and see what output is generated on the server side.
