Hi there



livecd modules # modprobe lasi_82596

Here's the error:

lasi_82596: falsely claims to have parameter debug
FATAL: Error inserting lasi_82596 (/lib/modules/2.6.16.18-pa11-livecd32/kernel/drivers/net/lasi_82596.ko):Invalid argument

The card is working if I use onother OS.


Eny Ideas why the error ?

The error message is not about the card, but about the driver module.

Looks like there is a bug in this version of the driver: the driver's metadata says it should accept a "debug" parameter, but apparently it does not actually have the necessary structures to receive it.

Type "modprobe -c | grep ^options" to see whether the debug option is set in the modprobe config files (/etc/modprobe.conf and all files in /etc/modprobe.d). If it is, removing it might be a workaround.

Confirm with if the driver is in built in the RHEL/kernel version. you may try to rebuild the kernel with the new driver loaded.
