While during an investigation and test the libc.2 was accidently moved to libc.2.

You may want to know this one which I think is the most easiest
/sbin/cat
/sbin/chmod +x /usr/lib/libc.2

how about LVM or VXVM boot mode in VM Maint ?
this is where you can use the /sbin/cat command.
is there a link command in /sbin/ln ?
rather than cat
you can use link or mv command in /sbin.
I might suggest you reboot your system,
then interrupt the boot.
bring up your boot OS in LVM or VXVM Maintenance option for the disk.
then do the cat or mv.
