linux missing operating system
I have a Linux enterprise 4.5 installed on ML 350 G3 proliant servers.
At boot it is showing an error message:
Missing Operating System.
Note that all the hardware including the disks is Ok and working properly.
Your help is highly appreciated.

Re: linux missing operating system
If that's all set up correctly, then dig out a rescue disk (disk 1 of the install media, type 'linux rescue'), throw it in, and see if it can mount the disk media.

Re: linux missing operating system
Has this setup ever worked, or are you having problems after the installation ?
If the latter, then this is a common problem when installing onto a machine with fibre attached disks, as well as a local SmartArray controller. The installer writes everything to the local disks (/dev/cciss/c0d0pX), but the boot loader (GRUB) gets installed on to the first fibre attached disk (/dev/sda). You have to select the Advanced option on the Boot Loader section of the installer to move the SmartArray controller to the top of the list...
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob
