make_recovery checks

Guru's

A few questions for you perusal :

I have been recently making a few make_rec DAT tapes (full -A).

Now that the tapes have been created, I would like to check the integrity of their contents. How am I to do this without running through a complete re-installation using the created tape? Is there someway I can bypass the make_rec header on the tape so that I can use tar to read the data?
------------
Can anyone let me know the command for initiating the GUI that displays a workstations IP,subnet mask, and the default gateway?

I am forever in your debt!

Re: make_recovery checks

Hi,
For the first question:
Skiping with a dd command and using no rewing device, then fbackup command or tar command?

For the second:
set_parms.

The only way to be fully happy with a DR solution is to do it.

It is fine reading the data from the tape, but you still do not know if that tape will recover your system!

It is very hard at time to get management to realise that you require time on their servers to ensure that the DR plans will work.

I normally put a cost implication document together on projections if the DR solution fails and then they usually see things my way.
