man pages..

[root@cms man]# man ls
invalid charset name
Error executing formatting or display command.
System command (cd /usr/share/man ; (echo -e ".ll 10.0i\n.pl 1100i"; /bin/gunzip -c /usr/share/man/man1/ls.1.gz; echo; echo ".pl \n(nlu+10") | /usr/bin/gtbl | /usr/bin/groff -Tlatin1 -mandoc | /usr/bin/less -isr) exited with status 256.
No manual entry for ls

what's the problem..?

Hi,

given the error message you quote I would guess

/usr/bin/groff -Tlatin1 -mandoc is the problem,
more specifically -Tlatin1.

Try to uncompress a man-page manually and run the groff command above against it. Do you get the same error?

I do assume here that you get this error with all man pages not only the one for ls.

What's your LANG environment variable set to?

try this:

env LANG=C man ls

and see if it displays correctly.

after modifing /etc/profile.d/less.sh
JLESSCHARSET=ko
man pages are showing correctly.
