Re: migration
What kind of data you talk about?
Just data or binarys also?
Why you don't change to RH 9.0 it's better.
If it's just data you need to copy it,
over the network or if the disks will be in the same machine so them mount and copy.
So no problem.

Re: migration
1) I've used all releases from 6-9. My current money production is Red Hat 7.3. Is that behind? Yes. Is it safe and stable as all heck. Yes. I never, never never do production on a dot.zero release. This was after once installing Red Hat 7.0 and not being able to compile a kernel. Ooops.
2) The reviewers say that Red Hat finally got it right with a dot.zero release with 9. I don't totally agree with that but urge you to take care.
3) I agree with Caesar, 8.0 is a waste of time, you are just shortening your life cycle. 9.0 is really 8.1, just with so many improvements that the decided to confuse us with another version number.
Depending on the applications you are using you should be fine. If its an Oracle App or something like that, after you transfer and convert the data you'll hardly notice.
For more in depth advicde post up a summary of what the server does and we'll give you specifics.

Re: migration
If so, then 7.3 or 8.0 are your only choices (without the latest eratta kernels).
RH broke the ABI modules (the kernel system personalities) so that they no longer work.
This has been reported to RH, and their response is basically "We don't care".
*whee*. much fun.

Re: migration
Hi,
You didn't say what's the type of data you have....
1 - If its and Oracle DB do an export (to tape or CD) at SCO then install Oracle on Linux (the Linux version) and import from your exported data on media.
2 - If you have SAP on Oracle maybe you can do a hetrogenuous system copy.
3 - Other files can be copied to Linux by NFS,FTP, Samba (from a Windows LAN), CDs or tapes....
4 - Some specific appliclations will not run on Linux if they were desighned to run on SCO only.
