mirror logical volume

I have created a logical volume within a volumegroup on my Red Hat installation. Now I want to mirror it. I should I do that?

Hello!

You need to use the RAID tools for the
mirror because in the LVM package no mirror
tools.

Hi Dagmar,

Yep, like Caesar said, you can't software mirror a logical volume in RH, even version 9.

Shame really - this is a big chunk of functionality that's missing.

You can either use software RAID (which is really simple in RH) or, if your budget will stretch far enough you could maybe purchase a hardware RAID configuration, then you can use LV's.

Re: mirror logical volume

You can run LVM on top of a software RAID
in RedHat. This can all be done using the
graphical installation tools.
