moving of oracle from hpux11iv1 to hpux11iv3

Hi,

I've done this twice.

Copy the Oracle datafiles and control file from v1 to v3. (/u01/app/product/oradata/hp/)

Install the oracle in HP-UX 11i v3.

Create the database with previous DB name or as your wish.

Stop the database.

Edit the pfile (/u01/app/product/admin/hp/pfile/) & mention the path for the old DB(v1) control file & datafile names.

Start the database.

Now, login with oracle,check with sqlplus. previous oracle DB logins will work.

I tried and worked for me.
