no linuxconf

Hi, I can't see linuxconf in my new RH7.1 server. I downloaded the OS from RH web site and burnt on the CD.Has it been replaced by some other utility in this version or I have to install it seperately. Any ideas....
TIA

Re: no linuxconf

the rpm linuxconf-1.24r2-10.i386.rpm
is on the first CD in the RedHat directory.

Check wether it is installed with rpm -qa | grep linuxconf

If you don't get any informations install it

Re: no linuxconf

Linuxconf is deprecated, and it may disappear from future distributions (it didn't work out as well as its creators hoped).

I'd suggest that y'all give Webmin (http://www.webmin.com ) a try. Webmin is configurable via any browser, and it doesn't seem to share linuxconf's propensity to change settings where it shouldn't.

Additionally, Webmin lets you add Webmin users with limited authority (I set up one customer with a "shutdown" account, so she could shut down the Linux box if she needed to).

Anyway, it's free, and cool. Give it a try!
