Re: not able to detect dat drive at startup

Hi Mangesh,

Pls mention the the hardware specs for Server and DAT drive.

Pls check the SCSI and power connections & terminations for DAT drive. Also see that the ID of dat drive is unique.

Syam

Re: not able to detect dat drive at startup

Hi Manngesh,

Thats cool.

Did u checked the ID of the dat drive.
It should be unique and make sure that the connections are proper. From your model description ur drive is a dds3 one and and dds3 is supported on C class workstations.

Re: not able to detect dat drive at startup

If it works well before you system is crashed. You should check SCSI cable connection. Termination. and Power. it is not waste of time to check it again.

Re: not able to detect dat drive at startup

Hi Mangesh,
once you get to the IDL prompt type the command
SEA
this will search for bootable media. when the search finishes type the command
BO Pn
where n is the number listed for your dat tape drive.

Re: not able to detect dat drive at startup

Mangesh,

If you installed the workstation when the dat drive was not connected, the stape driver may not have been added to the kernel.

- Log in as root and run sam.
- Select Kernel Configuration and then Drivers.
- Scroll down the list of drivers. stape is near the end of the list.
- Highlight the stape line and select Add Driver to Kernel from the right-mouse menu.
- From the Actions menu, select Create a New Kernel

When the kernel has been created, sam will prompt you to reboot the system. After rebooting, the system should recognize the dat drive.

Good luck.
