/opt/audio/bin/convert (on an A class)

# ./convert ../sounds/welcome.au welcome.l16
Error: Bad Audio Connection

I presume becuase
# /opt/audio/bin/Aserver
failed to open /dev/audioIL - Aserver exiting

Do I really need Audio hardware to do the conversion?

I don't have a graphical console and can still convert bmps to jpegs etc...

Yes Bill. Convert won't work if Aserver is not running.

Yes Bill. Convert won't work if Aserver is not running.

I had this problem while converting some au files to wav and I had to add the driver.

Yes, you need the audio hardware.

Hi Bill,

The SOX libraries under Linux should be able to do this.

Hey, don't the HP X terminals run the Aserver?

yea Chuck the xt's would work great, but do you know how hard it is to find one these days! (especially one with Audio hardware!!)
