Re: panic , isr.ior error in crash log

Hi,

there are many threads here in the forum about that!
It seems to be a hardware failure.
Do you have a support contract with HP?
Then you should open a case!

Do you have crash files?
Check /var/tombstones/ts99
and
/var/adm/crash

Re: panic , isr.ior error in crash log

Hi,

Panics that start isr.ior are often due to:

- ServiceGuard ToC - is this system in a SG cluster? I see this type of panic during my SG cluster testing.
- Manual ToC - can be issued from the system MP using the TC command.
- High Priority Machine Check - which can be a hardware fault detected by the system

You need to look at the crash dump created by your system to definitely identify the reason. If you have a support contract it would be worth logging a call to have someone at HP analyse the dump for you.

If this was the last reboot of the system, you should have a ts99 file in /var/tomstones that you could add to your support call.

Hi,

processor 0 seems to have a problem, 1 to 3 are ok.
Maybe PCI bus is damaged too.

You should call HP!

Btw. you 'have assigned points to 28 of 350 responses' to your questions.

That is a very poor assignment rate.

Re: panic , isr.ior error in crash log

Hi
What game are you playing here?

If you want a panic to be analyze properly, please contact HP support. You will get more interesting answers.

Analyze a dump needs some kernel knowledge, and is not just a good guess.

panic isr.ior=....
just means that your system panic accessing to the above address.
And that's all. So it can be anything.

To analyze a dump, the first thing is to look at the stack trace.
It may be a known one, or a not known one.
So in any case the only action there would be to contact HP support and give the crash dump available at /var/adm/crash/crash.??
And have this dump analyze properly.

a panic isr.ior can be due to:
1) a bug which makes a pointer points to an unmapped kernel memory
2) a hardware pb.

in 80% of the case it is 1)

The bug can be anywhere in the kernel.

Where do you get that from?

CPU 0 tried to access to a wrong address that't all what we can say I think.
It doesn't mean AT ALL that CPU 0 have a problem

identify like that a problem with CPU 0 or PCI bridge is like telling the future in a cristal ball.

Re: panic , isr.ior error in crash log

Hi All

Temperature around this server is quite high. Let me know any hp-ux command to check current temperature of the server?
