Re: postfix in the chroot environments

Shalom chris,

postfix in a chroot environment? Not exactly sure what you are geeting at. sendmail daemon is a limited priviledge daemon that receives mail for any system defined users and there fore needs access to /var/spool/mail at a minimum.

When you go to postfix it works the same way.

Are you asking that if the daemon is breached by some security problem that the session is chrooted?

Here are a few ideas:

Re: postfix in the chroot environments

I haven't setup a chroot postfix myself. But there are some to-the-point documents in the postfix-doc package.

sudo apt-get install postfix-doc

firefox file:///usr/share/doc/postfix/html/INSTALL.html#hamlet

and

firefox file:///usr/share/doc/postfix/html/BASIC_CONFIGURATION_README.html#chroot_setup
