redefine Linux partions

Hi All,

How do I redefine partitions in Linux. I already have file systems created and now need to redefine them to a bigger size. Any help is greatly appreciated.

use cfdis for redefine partitions in Linux.

You could also look at the 'parted' command (Partition Editor).

It allows you to re-size into freespace etc. etc.

Read the documentation before doing anything though, and make sure you have a backup!

Hi all,

cfdisk is NOT a good idea if you want to keep your data available.

You may use PowerQuest partition magic (www.powerquest.com) or equivalents.

After partitions are resized, you may need to resize filesystems using resize2fs or another utility that corresponds to your filesystem.

Some advice that does not require points.

Every time I messed with this stuff after installation I ended up reinstalling the OS.

The only hope for me as a HP-UX geek is lvm. The reports on that are mixed as some have reported problems with that.

I'd really have a good backup because cfdisk and fdisk are the tools I used to blow up two systems.
