Re: registry cleaners
I have used these without problems:
http://www.ccleaner.com/
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Best/easy-cleaner.html
They are free. I have deleted all, what they propose and the computer has not stopped working. You can do backup copy from the registry and settings you are going to delete.

Re: registry cleaners
After running your favorite registry cleaner, run JV16 and it will find more errors. Usually a lot of them.
And that is not in "agressive" mode either.
Give it a try.

Re: registry cleaners
I have also used JV16 Power Tools and it works fine, but the new versions are not free.

Re: registry cleaners
I do not want to buy a program if that is the case, as most of these "free" programs are only a trial version.

SolutionYes, using the built-in registry cleaner ( WinDoctor )in Norton Systemworks 2006 would definitely keep your registry clean and be appropiate on what to remove.
I find the trial versions of third party registry cleaners to clean more than normal and potenially deleting good entries also.
They are also laden with spyware, that can slow down your system.
Just a way to get money from users is there game.............
Please use google and Microsoft Press books to enhance the windows registry and get fresh ideas.
Please use other products like Window Washer and Spy Sweeper ( without the virus checking feature ) along with Spybot.
Ofcourse, always update your definitions on all software tools like these mentioned.
