how to hide the hostname while sending mail through sendmail??

Hi.
edit the file /etc/mail/sendmail.mc
locate the line that includes:
EXPOSED_USER...
put dnl in fron of it so it'll look like this
dnl EXPOSED_USER
then look for line that includes:
dnl MASQUERADE_AS(`mydomain.com')
and remove the preceding dnl and replace mydomain.com with your domain name.
save your change.
do:
m4 /etc/mail/sendmail.mc > /etc/mail/sendmail.cf
and
service sendmail restart
Then it'll work...

You can do several things:
You can use the Dj directive in sendmail.cf
You can change the actual hostname of the machine.
In the end though, be aware that your public Internet IP address will be associated with the mail logs, even if you use a relay server, it will show up on those logs.
There is no such thing as anonymous mail.
