sendmail, mailx screening of Exchange autoreplies

On the HP-UX side, is there any way to keep Exchange autoreply messages from being sent back to the HP-UX box? i.e. I have scripts that automatically e-mail certain individuals, routed through our Exchange server, and when they're out of the office, I get all these autoreplies sent back to the UNIX user's mail account. Is there any way to screen these from the sendmail or mailx side to keep them from reaching the UNIX mailbox, without setting this up through Exchange? Thanks!!!

Try using a different Reply to: line in
your emails. Choose an address which will not be recognized as a user on the HP-UX box.

You might also add a "don't reply" message in the body of your email so as not to offend anyone.

sendmail 8.8.6 provides (in the sendmail.cf file) to check and reject unsolicited mail messages: The check_mail will allow you to accept or reject mail according to the sender's address in the SMTP MAIL command.

Hope this helps.
