sound on pavilion 8660 running debian and kde
I am having trouble getting any sound to work with linux. /dev/dsp claims not to exist even though it does, sndconfig (ported from RedHat) names the onboard card as Rockell but says that it is not supported. X multimedia, which comes with KDE claims that my sound card is not configured properly. I am new to linux and have done nothing previously to try to get sound working on the system. Any help or advice is appreciated.
Thanks, paul

There are updates to the 8660 which can be downloaded here.

Re: sound on pavilion 8660 running debian and kde
the website you provided was related to my product, but didn't provide me with the linux related drivers I was looking for. I have come across linuxant.com, which have taken over porting chamelion drivers to linux.
