sybase 12.0 install on 11.11

I have installed sybase 12.0 "adaptive
server" on my 11.11 system. However during the
database creation portion it always fails with
the error message:
"cannot start server"
If I try to start it manually (this is assuming
it did actually create the D/B), I get the error message:
$ /usr/lib/dld.sl: Unresolved symbol: __head (data) from /usr/lib/libC.2
/usr/lib/dld.sl: Unresolved module for symbol: __shlinit (code) from /usr/lib/libCsup.2

We are trying to get our Sybase support contact resolved but until then... any help
is appreciated.

I pulled this from comp.databases.sybase:

1) Get rid of HPUX patch PHSS_22543
2) Aply a Sybase patch newer than 12.0.0.3 ESD#2 (out DBA put EBF9823)
