I'm getting a lot of sync msgout/in errors in my error logs, anyone know what the error means?

kernel: sym53c896-1-<5,*>: FAST-10 SCSI 10.0 MB/s (100 ns, offset 15)
kernel: sym53c896-1-<5,0>: sync msgout: 1-3-1-c-1f.

Re: sym53c896 error messages

I have one of the older symbios controllers.

There are several READMEs in /usr/src/linux-2.2.12/drivers/scsi.

One of them has a list of parameters that you can tune.

You might want to turn on asyncronous operations.

Also, what kind of disks are you using that the channel is only running at 10Mb/s?

Mine are old Seagate Cheetahs, and I'm running at FAST-20 / 40Mb/s.
