t5125 & printing

have setup 3 T5125 with attached usb printers.
can print for setup on the T5125, set them w/ fixed IP and as LPD.
On win2003r2 term svr, I can connect back using Services for Unix (LPR) Msoft default TCPIP does not work even if set to LPR from RAW.
the printers seem to drop offline, I get msgs in window event logs saying that the printer is refusing to talk, when I do a lpq to the printer/ lpd server it tells me that /var/spool/lpd is full, when I do a df, it is only @ 2%.
printers are a mixture of hp5740 & 5150 with latest drivers. Svr is updated with latest.

any ideas?
