Re: tape

We use DLT's and change the tape daily. We've never come close to filling one. I think even with DAT tapes, you should be able to fit a day's worth of logs on a tape.

Re: tape

Hi,

Take a look at next doc,

http://www.j3iss.com/unix_backup/informix.html

once ontape detects that the backup device is full, it prompts for a second tape.

Hope it helps,

Robert-Jan.

Re: tape

There are some programs to retrive this data directly from tape devices.

Re: tape

You are always informed by a message to let you know when the tape is full. If you want to terminatewriting to a tape before it gets fulll press the INTR key and it will stop at the end of the current logical log.
shouldn't every database be online?
