top and rds CPU usage
However, above, in the CPU states section I see both CPUs at 90% idle most of the time.
I *believe* the process related percentage is only a rough estimation but how could it differ that much?

Bernhard

Re: top and rds CPU usage
in this case i think of a patch for top.
What OS do you have ?
And, just for comparison, what is the output of a
sar 3 10
?
I trust more sar than top...
HTH,
Massimo

Re: top and rds CPU usage
this is due to a bug in the 'top' command. HP is aware of it and a patch for it will appear.
You can verify it by installing a trial version of GlancePlus. You'll notice than that the rds daemon is not consuming the amount of cpu that top is telling you.
regards,
Kurt

Re: top and rds CPU usage
that's what I had suspected meanwhile...
I do have 11.0 and PHCO_26020 (latest top cumulative)
first thing I did was use sar 1 100 (much to my relief!)
glance supports the impression that it's top
which is wrong.
Thank you anyway for the quick answers.
Regards,
Bernhard
