unable to create vg on an empty available internal disk

I have an internal 72Gb internal disk showing 0Mb available.. I tried to create a volume group with just a size of 100Mb but came back saying no space available. ?? ioscan shows the disk..and If i do a reboot of system it queries the drive successfully..I also re-seeded the drive.. any other ideas

Did you run pvcreate against this disk?

You said "I have an internal 72Gb internal disk showing 0Mb available".

Where do you see 0Mb available? What does 'diskinfo /dev/rdsk/c?t?d?' show for this disk?

If 0Mb is available then the error is accurate in that there is no space available to do anything.

already tried pvcreate with the -f option .
it hangs for approx. 30 seconds then comes back with prompt.

when i do a diskinfo it comes back saying 0 mb available.. i guess another way to ask the question..

Re: unable to create vg on an empty available internal disk

You can't. Diskinfo showing 0MB available is a VERY good sign that the disk is DEAD.

What you really need to do here is replace that disk. Once that is done then you can try creating your VG on that disk.
