unable to seek partition

hi,
i have added a new 36 hdd on my existing linux server. the partition that i made is as sdd1 and sdd2.when i give the command fdisk /dev/sdd2 i get the error message unable to seek on /dev/sdd2 what is the possible reason for this.

Hi,

why are you using command fdisk /dev/sdd2 ?

if you want to do partitions or to change id you must use fdisk /dev/ssd
