This looks like the ORACLE_HOME is not correctly set. Have you installed other oracle software in a different ORACLE_HOME on this same machine?

Thanks to all who responded to my problem. You input helped to inprove my knowledge of the Listener process.

My OracleTnsLister80 in up and running. There was something in my orant/bin directory that was corrupted. I reloaded that directory from a previous windows nt backup tape.

Hi can you say me what was the corrupted file in the Bin folder. Bcos i am also facing the same problem on my PC with Win 2K Advanced server OS.

the corrupted file was the LSNRCTL.

Hi can i know, from where you were able to replace it from. I came to know that oracle 8.0.5 is not compatable with win 2K advanced server. Is it true.

hi
I backup my current /bin directory to tape. We backup our systems every night, therefo I had a previous copy of my Orant/bin directory on tape. I reloaded the /bin directory, then my listener started working.
