What are you talking about? there are quite a few free opensource usenet readers for linux. The first one that comes to mind is pan:

as for free usenet servers you need to do a google search. Personally I would just sign up for supernews.

You can get 5GB for $5.95. That's the cost of a combo meal at McDonald's a month. I would hope you could afford that.

for example troppix 1.0,
but troppix 1.0 is only an example.

are there any clients for linux or freeBSD ?
