Else you can try Microsoft's Virtual PC.

Re: vmware tools for windows where to get?

Hi,

Vmware tools come with vmware server.

After you install a windows virtual machine, search in the top menus (VM) for, "install vmware tools". This only works after you have installed and are logged in the windows virtual machine (it's just like any other software installment).

By the way, for windows machines, I find that virtual pc is a little faster and takes less memory, but in terms of features and functionality, vmware server is better, for example, it's pretty irritating that virtual pc only let's me use NAT in the first network card, and also, it has problems and sometimes needs a little config to put it to work.

VMware server is also a lot better for other operating systems, and is cross platform, and can run virtual pc images, and supports usb.

hope this helps,

Re: vmware tools for windows where to get?

I'm sure this has been answered, but boot your XP VM from the VMWare Server Console. In the lefhand Inventory pane, right-click on the name of your virtual machine. If the machine is powered on, you'll see the option 'Install VMWare Tools...' in the contextual menu. Clicking on this will launch the installer inside your VM (screen shot attached).

Since you mention you have no keyboard/mouse to begin with, I'm not sure how you'll get the installer to finish as you need to click (or use the keyboard).

What is the host OS that VMServer is running on?
