Hi,
We're running the following version of Veritas Filesystem on our HP-UX 11.23 Integrity Blades.
VRTSvxfs 4.1.001 VERITAS File System
Looking at our filesystem properties with "fstyp -v /dev/vgname/rlvol" we see that the fstyp version is: version 6
With the above being said, we're curious what the upwards size limits are on a filesystem? I think I'm reading in the following doc that it is 256TB, but I'd like confirmation on this if anyone happens to know:
http://docs.hp.com/en/5992-2330/ch06s05.html
Thanks in advance,
/KPS

Solution
Yes, the filesystem-level limit is 256TB on filesystem layout version 6.
But regardless of that, the LVM might cause another bottleneck:
http://docs.hp.com/en/6054/LVM_Limits_White_Paper_V4.pdf
Even with the appropriate patches (see page 3 of the PDF linked above) the maximum size of a LV is 16 TB.
If you don't use VxVM (costs money) or put your filesystem directly on the /dev/(r)dsk device (a bad practice and does not necessarily support 256 TB either), this will be your limit, as you cannot create a 256 TB LV where you could put your huge filesystem!
HP-UX 11.31 includes LVM 2.0/2.1, which will allow 256 TB LVs to be created. See page 6 of the PDF linked above.

Re: vxfs version 6
Thanks very much, this info is right on with what I was looking for. Also appreciate the info of what changes when we get to 11.31 and run LVM 2.0/2.1.
Many Thanks!!!
