win2008 could not determine valid system volume

I am getting this message whenever I try to install windows 2008 server standard using a manual install. The drives can been see and format. I have tried different controllers but that is not the issue.

Any suggestions?

This sounds like an issue with boot order. Verify the expected boot order in the BIOS. Remove any BIOS settings that could affect the boot order. Remove any USB or other boot devices that may be interferring with the boot order (virtual KVM devices, onboard USB key).

The solution suggested above is correct - go into the BIOS, then ensure that the HDD / RAID array is the first boot device. Once done, save changes and then re-boot. Go through the pre-install bits, then you should be able to install Windows.
