Mark Interrante and Bill Franklin discuss the increasing importance of OpenStack® to NFV

Between 2006 and 2014, the volume of data on AT&T’s network grew an eye-popping 100,000 percent. In the era of mobile video, AT&T is far from alone. Every telecom in the world is scrambling to keep pace with the explosion of traffic on their networks. And expensive hardware isn’t a viable solution. Enter network function virtualization (NFV), which allows software and automation to manage networks in place of dedicated network appliances.

The OpenStack® Foundation forecasts that the market for NFV products and services will grow to more than $10 billion by the end of the decade, up from $900 million last year. Watch Mark Interrante and Bill Franklin discuss the increasing importance of OpenStack® to NFV.

In addition to talking NFV, Franklin and Interrante also make a few predictions for the OpenStack® Austin Summit (hint: there will be barbeque), and debate the true meaning of hybrid infrastructure. Watch now.
