Yes, you can replace 512MB DIMMs with A9775A 4x2GB quad. See memory loading rules in quick spec

Re: A9775A 4x2Gb rp3440-4 memory compatibility

I recommend installing 4x2GB quad in slots 0A, 0B, 1A, 1B and 1GB dimms in remaining slots.

Below is a cite from
HP 9000 rp3410 and HP 9000 rp3440 User Service Guide, page 71
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01404120/c01404120.pdf

"If you are installing DIMMs of different sizes, you must install the largest DIMMs (most
memory) in the first quad. DIMMs in the second quad can be equal to or smaller than (less
memory) the DIMMs in the first quad. If you install DIMMs in the third quad, they must be equal to or smaller than the DIMMs in the second quad."

Re: A9775A 4x2Gb rp3440-4 memory compatibility

thanks very much Zygmunt.

Just read it; first quad is to be filled with largest DIMM size.

so we will finally do: 0a-1b= 4x2 Gb, 2a-3b= 4x1 Gb, 4a-5b= 4x1 Gb. 512 Mb DIMM will be uninstalled, so it will be 16 Gbyte the final RAM installed.

then check PDC level of the server for requirements for the memory deallocation and moving, as cited in the guide.

Very much thanks again, and regards.

alvaro.
