Re: Cell Boot is blocked

cell0:
System Boot Rom (SFW) firmware rev 24.001
PDH controller (PDHC) firmware rev 3.030, built THU JUL 27 21:18:14 2006

cell1:
System Boot Rom (SFW) firmware rev 24.004
PDH controller (PDHC) firmware rev 3.031, built THU NOV 09 21:37:37 2006

Consider to use MP's "DFW" command to adjust this (power off the system)!

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Cell Boot is blocked

Even if the system is up now, you should care about the firmware.

You currently have a mix of release 4.0 and 4.2.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Cell Boot is blocked

Thank you Torsten.

In this situation, when cells are having different firmware levels, how to make it equal? How to proceed in such situation?

I have replaced a cell from another rp7420 box, and hence this situtaion occurred.

Re: Cell Boot is blocked

You can either update or duplicate the firmware or even swap the cells daugther board.

Update

Download the bundle and STRICTLY follow the instructions:

http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=392502&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3Didx%253D2%257CswItem%253Dpf_82060_1%257CswEnvOID%253D54%257CitemLocale%253D%257CswLang%253D%257Cmode%253D4%257Caction%253DdriverDocument&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken

Duplicate

- power of the box, run "DFW" from the MP

- select the destination component

- select the source component

- do this once for SFW, once for PDHC

Example:

[mp] MP:CM> dfw
 ...

Number  Cabinet    Name   Partition  Handle   Firmware Version  Comments
 ------ --------- -------- --------- -------- ------------------ --------
     1         0   PDHC 0A        0      256      A.003.031      Current
     2         0   PDHC 0B        0      264      A.003.027      Old
     3         0    SFW 0A        0      320         23.001      Pri PA
     4         0    SFW 0B        0      328         24.004      Sec PA
     5         0   PDHC 1A        0      257      A.003.031      Current
     6         0   PDHC 1B        0      265      A.003.027      Old
     7         0    SFW 1A        0      321         23.001      Pri PA
     8         0    SFW 1B        0      329         24.004      Sec PA

Note: You can only duplicate one firmware type at a time.

Enter the Entities to be updated (EX: 7,8) : 2

Enter the source entity for the PDHC firmware image: 1

Are you sure that you want to continue(Y/N): y

Check with "sysrev"

 Swap board

There is a board on the cell between CPU and memory. This board stores the firmware. If not damaged on the old cell, you may try to swap these boards between the old and new cell.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
