DLT8000 fbackup and blocksperrecord
This is an old issue, but might still be relevant, being one of the original Guinea Pigs for a "corporate" roll out of DLT8000 FW v80, I have read many of the discussions
regarding settings for fbackup config files.
This became an issue when the DLT8000 firmware was upgrade to v80, and everyones backups doubled in length. Most discussions stated using
blocksperrecord 128
I have found that wacking this upto
blocksperrecord 1024
readerprocesses 4
Not only put the backup time to near the pre
firmware level, but in most cases gave a further improvement.
This is now the standard for all HPUX servers
running fbackup on the Royal Mail systems.
Hope this helps
