GSP connection

Hi,

I have a gsp connection to an HPUX RP4410 server running HP11.23. The ip address of the GSP is pingable but I cant connect to it. Is there a way of resetting the GSP from the unix root user command line?

$ cd /dev
$ ls -la *GSP*
crw-------   1 root       sys          1 0x010080 Mar 18  2010 GSPdiag1
$

Kind Regards,

Mark Parsons.

Re: GSP connection

GSP access was added then quietly removed a long time ago. However, a reset may not fix it. You may have a bad subnet mask or gateway. Try telnet from an adjacent machine on the same subnet. If that doesn't work, a trip to the data center will be required (along with a serial terminal or equivalent laptop).

Re: GSP connection

What does it mean "but I cant connect to it"?

Wrong user/password or no answer at all?

Do you want to restart the MP or restore factory defaults?

BTW, the "GSP" is called "MP" in this system.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: GSP connection

Hi Mark,

You may check the configuration if it is ok, by connectinga a serial console and  MP> LS  command.

Secondly you can do a reset to the GSP physically from teh back of the server, using a pen tip . And then try again.

Re: GSP connection

What application/protocol are you trying to use to connect.  In the older systems SSH was an extra cost option, and most of them only accept telnet connections.
