Simpler Navigation for Servers and Operating Systems - Please Update Your Bookmarks
Completed: a much simpler Servers and Operating Systems section of the Community. We combined many of the older boards, so you won't have to click through so many levels to get at the information you need. Check the consolidated boards here as many sub-forums are now single boards.
If you have bookmarked forums or discussion boards in Servers and Operating Systems, we suggest you check and update them as needed.

Gsp mac address

Is there a way of getting the mac address of the gsp when you cant connect to the gsp?

Re: Gsp mac address

Yes. Walk to the server and read the GSP MAC address from the label at the back of the server :)

If you can ping the GSP (i.e. you already know its IP address) from another system in the same network segment, you could look at the ARP table of that system right after pinging the GSP, and get the MAC address that way.

Typically the ARP table entries may expire within 5-30 seconds, so it's important to ping first and then view the ARP table immediately afterwards.
